I use a lead-sled at the range, it saves the shoulder if you do a lot of shooting and increases stability. It also lessens the flinch-factor. Yes, even experienced shooters sometimes get that sub-conscience, apprehension just before squeezing that trigger. I do my final boresight here at the range, and then I start my barrel break-in, at the same time printing my groups with various ammo, and lastly I’ll take the rifle off the sled and do some more “recreational” shooting. Even this last step of range day takes a lot of time to do properly. I’m constantly cleaning and doing my break-in, completing my checks, letting the barrel cool in between, labeling the groups, trying not to fatigue my eyes---having fun the whole time.
