The next few projects are smaller, but not unimportant. The top left picture is of the thread cap I’m making. If the muzzle brake is removed, the threads will be protected by the cap. The next couple pictures are part of the scope mounting procedure. The scope bases are lapped to the receiver for a nice fit. After that, the rings are installed/marked and lapped in so they’re perfectly aligned. This is important for a stress-free scope mounting. If the rings aren’t in line, when the scope is installed and the screws tightened, the scope body can be slightly twisted and stressed, this is not good. I’m striving for repeatability, if something is stressed, it’s more apt to change from shot to shot.
