After the barrel comes back, it’s time for final assembly of the rifle. Even these final steps are tedious and time consuming, I just don’t throw the pieces together and call it a day. These pictures show some of the things I do during final assembly, but not all. The swivel studs are screwed and glued into the stock so they’re not coming loose or out. I’ve found even with the higher-end, factory bolt rifles, things like loose swivels, loose grip caps, and other minor imperfections. However, it’s those little things that matter to clients that appreciate quality and craftsmanship. I also touch up the recoil pad, cleaning up where pad and paint meet. To me, even making the rubber look good is important. One other thing I do, depending on the rifle, I’ll dull the shiny bolt sleeves by blasting them with fine glass beads.
