Here I’m reaming/enlarging the bolt bore raceway with a special .705 reamer from Greg Tannel. I use most of Greg’s products, along with some of my own fixtures and techniques. The reamer guarantees a consistent .705 inside diameter throughout the length of the action. This is important so when I sleeve the bolt, both sleeves can be the same size, roughly .704. The goal is to have a nearly one to one fit between the bolt and the action when they’re locked up. By tightening the bolt/action tolerance, I’ve guaranteed the least amount of bolt cant/movement when that trigger is pulled and throughout the firing process. Improved bolt stability equals increased accuracy and consistency.
